IUPUI Game Developers' Group
Along with my co-leader and great friend Daniel Eichelberger, I co-ran the IUPUI Game Developers' Group, a student-run club at the School of Informatics and Computing at IUPUI. It's a student club that gives students a place to let their creativity to flourish by coming together to make awesome games each semester.
My role in the development of the group's games was primarily being a producer and project manager, helping each team in our group with plotting out their development cycle and keeping them on track with their design goals. I also assisted in making assets and the occasional bit of programming.
Under Dan's leadership and my own, we successfully made two mobile games and published them on the Google Play Store, a first in the club's history. We participated in the 2017 & 2018 Global Game Jam and and the 2017 Indianapolis Moon Jam hosted my Merge VR. We also ran a table at Indy PopCon 2017 to show off the team's then-current project they started that summer, The Moon Five; a survival horror visual novel game.
We also had our first ever in-club game jam, GDG Game Jam 2017, the following fall. It had a great turnout and led to some great games from our participants. We attended Ohio GDEX 2017 later that year, a game development expo in Columbus, Ohio, as well as Train Jam 2018 and GDC 2018 in San Fransisco in the middle of March of the following year. All these events were great opportunities to create games, spread the word about the club and showcase all our hard work.
